Gift Aid Declarations

The church is growing! Some of you who are new to Cornerstone may not be aware of the Gift Aid scheme, so I thought it was a good time to write on this subject.

Making donations to Cornerstone under the “Gift Aid” scheme is very simple and is a real blessing to the church. If you pay income tax, all donations can qualify, providing you complete a Gift Aid Declaration.

Under the Gift Aid scheme, Cornerstone can collect an additional 28% from the HMRC on your donations. For every £100 received Cornerstone can receive an additional £28. There is no limit on the amount of the donation.

You only need to complete a Gift Aid declaration once, as this will cover all future donations. This declaration is found on the Giving envelopes which are always available on Sundays (one is enclosed).

Please remember that unless your name and initials accompany your donation, we cannot recover the extra 28% from HMRC. So if you are giving by cheque, this is easy because your cheque has your name on it. But if you are giving by credit card or cash, using the Giving envelopes, then you must add your name and the other information required.

If you pay higher rate income tax, then you can claim the 20% higher rate relief through your self assessment tax return.

There are a variety of ways you can give:

Cheques payable to Cornerstone
Monthly standing through your bank or building society (using the attached Standing Order form)
Credit card (using Giving envelopes on Sunday – please remember to complete all the information)
Cash (using Giving envelopes on Sunday – please put your initials and name on the envelope)
Transfer to our bank using telephone or online banking (see account details on the attached Standing Order form – using your initials and name as a reference)
Via Paypal on this website (using your initials and name as a reference)

A monthly Standing Order form is enclosed as many people like to Tithe their regular income this way, and then give offerings by cheque or credit card on Sundays.

Please return these forms for the attention of the Iwona, our bookkeeper, to the church office.
