Building a Strong Family

    Download Notes

It is impossible to make a successful and happy family without God as the foundation of the house.

We must realise that God is the foundation of a strong family! We must put our dependence on God in all the affairs of the family. We must look to God as the builder, the keeper and the ultimate provider.

1. God is the builder of our family

Psalm 127:1 says: EXCEPT the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.”

God the Father is the real builder of the family. Therefore, we must acknowledge Him as the real head of our family and we must build our family according to His Word. All our efforts will lead to failure unless we acknowledge God as the real head in our family.

God use pillars to build your house:

• God uses the pillar of His word to build our faith in Him

• God uses the pillar of prayer to build our trust in Him

• God uses the pillar of love to build our bond to Him

2. God is the protector of our family

Psalm 127:1 “EXEPT the Lord keeps the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.”

In a time when our children have easy access to bad influences and polluting information we need watchmen. All of us, and specially our children, are vulnerable to compromise. So this is the right time to admit our own limitations and ask the help from the real protector of our family (no other than God Himself). We cannot watch and protect our family 24/7. Only the omnipresent and all powerful God is able to do this.

God uses fences to protect our family:

• God uses the fence of His teaching to protect us from false belief.

• God uses the fence of healthy relationships to protect our emotions.

• God uses the fence of His family to protect our hearts.

• God uses the fence of His presence to protect our souls.

God uses the fence of His love so no one can separate us from Him.

3. God is the provider of our family

Psalm 127:2 “It is vain for you to rise up early, to take rest late, to eat the bread of anxious toil--for He gives blessings to His beloved in sleep.”

The effectiveness of our labours is dependent on the operation and providence of God; because all human strength and industry is in itself vain.

God provide us blessings to give us reasons to thank Him

• God provides favours and opportunities.
• God provides wisdom and abilities.
• God provides healing.
• God provides wealth.
• God provides friends.

• God provides partners in life.

• God uses the milk and bread of His word to nourish us.

• God uses the water of His Spirit to refresh and revive us.

God the Father is builder, protector and provider.

And like any good Father He has your best interests at heart.

So make sure He is at the centre of your family today!

What Lies Ahead
“Fear of the Future” consumes many people’s lives. However, it isn’t the way we are instructed to live. Jesus puts it like this, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on it. More ...
