The Incredible Dream

The foundation of an incredible destiny is an incredible dream. Your dream will set the stage for your life and give you something to apply your faith to. People who have no dream [no vision] for their lives are unlikely to reach their full potential. A prosperous soul is one that understands its full potential. Understanding the great potential you have in God should cause you to have big dreams.

Remember, the only boundaries you have are those you place on your own imagination. Albert Einstein once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” The human mind is capable of extraordinary thought and boundless imagination. So why not dream big dreams? When you have thought through your dreams your faith is given direction. Consequently, your ability to “live by faith” is enhanced dramatically.

Here are 3 steps that will help you exercise faith and make those dreams a reality:

  1. You must live your life to the full. Practically everybody has the will to live because self-preservation comes naturally. But the will to live is not enough. Life is not mere existence. Barely surviving (or maintaining) does not represent a full life. Life is a choice and you must choose to live life to the full! When you choose to live life to the full it will not only affect you but it will positively affect your vision and also those people God’s placed around you. When you have a dream it is much easier to improve your quality of life. Your dream can breath life into your existence and drive you toward your destiny. But more than this, it can make the journey more enjoyable! Note, you are going to need the will to hang on to your dream no matter what challenges may confront you.
  2. You must have the will to fulfil your vision. Notice, the will to live your life to the full is not enough; you must also have the will to succeed. You must not ignore your greater purpose in God. In this regard, success shouldn’t be optional. It is your responsibility to God and your family to make a success of your life. To ignore this is to accept living way below your created potential in Christ. A human will directed is very powerful!
  3. You must have a heart to serve. When the disciples asked Jesus who would occupy the highest position in His Kingdom, the Lord pointed them to servant hood. Albert Einstein once said, “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” Every dreamer’s dream must serve a greater purpose than his own. Therefore, a true dreamer must be a servant or facilitator of a great cause. Remember, it is how much you are able to give away in a lifetime, whether it be money or knowledge, time or encouragement, that truly counts.

Therefore, a dreamer must not only dream of success but also dream to serve God with that success. Faith without works is dead!

You were born to live, you live to succeed, and you succeed to serve. This is how your dreams become a reality.

To reiterate:

  1. You must live your life to the full.
  2. You must have the will to fulfil your vision.
  3. You must have a heart to serve.

The greatest threat to your dream becoming a reality is not an external force but those negative attitudes from within. The following 3 positions can be labelled “Dream Killers” as they will suck the life from your dream if left unattended.

(a)   An unteachable spirit. Failure to continue to grow and to learn will seriously damage your dream and stop you living life to the full. King Solomon said it this way, “A wise man will hear and increase in learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel.” [Proverbs 1:5] “Give instruction to a wise man and he will still be wiser, teach a just man and he will increase in learning.” [Proverbs 9:9] Note, a wise man is not necessarily the one who gives the right answers, but the one who asks the right questions.

(b)   An acceptance of personal limitations. Dreams cannot be built on your own limitations. And there will always be someone around to tell you why it can’t be done. A dreamer will envisage life beyond his personal limitations. He will look beyond that which is possible and aim for the impossible.

(c)   Refusal to speak positively. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Your words are a dynamic and creative force. If you desire to see your dreams become a reality you must refuse to speak negative words. You must become committed to speaking words of life. Proverbs 10:11 states, “The mouth of the wise is a well of life.”
