The Turning Point
Today is Pentecost Sunday. As Spirit-filled believers we should place more emphasis upon Pentecost than any other Christian festival. For many, the “Day of Pentecost” is correctly understood to signify the turning point of all human history. It was when the “resurrection power of God” came to equip His Church. Note, power can be used in at least two ways: (1) it can be unleashed, or (2) it can be harnessed. For instance, the energy in ten gallons of petrol can be released explosively by dropping a lighted match into the container. Or it can be channeled through the engine of a motor car (in a controlled burn) and used to transport people for hundreds of miles. Explosions are spectacular, but controlled burns have lasting effect (staying power).
