The Authority of the Believer

Part 6 – The Blood of Jesus Christ

    PDF Icon Notes

When dealing with The Authority of the Believer we cannot ignore the importance of pleading the precious Blood of Jesus Christ - to overcome the enemy, to protect our families, and ourselves and for the protection of our property and possessions. I’m sure you will agree, we all need protection against satan and all the enemies of God. There is so much power in the Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Billye Brim in her book “The Blood and The Glory,” writes: “The last days are upon us and the world is becoming increasingly dangerous. However, protection for you and your family during this time is possible. By pleading the Blood of Jesus over your property, possessions, and family, you can put worry to rest. For many these last days can be full of dread, fear, and insecurity. For the church they will be our best ever! Don’t let terror defeat you.”

The devil wants to rob us of our redemptive rights by placing curses of poverty, sickness and death upon our lives. But, we have been redeemed (rescued) from the curse of the law through the Blood of Jesus Christ. Revelation 12:11 tells us, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” Satan and his demons are out to destroy us but we can defend ourselves, our families and our possessions with the precious Blood of Jesus Christ. We have victory over evil because Jesus shed His blood on the cross. Remember, the devil was defeated at the cross. Luke 10:19 tells us “I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy…” Use that authority; use the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ against the enemy.

A tract entitled ‘Honour the Blood’ writes: “There must be a personal application of the blood of Christ in order to stem the tide of spiritual destruction in the life of the Believer… It is a personal matter. 'The blood shall be to you for a token. When I see the blood, I will pass over you’ (Exodus 12:13). The blood, applied by sprinkling, was all that was required for peace of mind and rest of heart. It took away all fear of the destroying angel. It was not mere interest in the blood, nor belief in its power; nor appreciation of its worth that availed. It was the applied blood that counted. Truth was translated into action. So it is with the blood of the Lord Jesus. It is effective against satanic floods when applied by faith. A proper application of His blood to any given situation (if the believer is operating from a cleansed position), always brings deliverance. It never fails…”

Let us now examine Exodus 12 in the context of the Passover. “The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt.. “The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast.... Eat it in haste; it is the Lord’s Passover. On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. The blood will be a sign for youon the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.”

So how do you apply the Blood of Jesus Christ to your situation? By faith. In prayer and in faith you can plead the Blood of the Lord over you and your family, and your home. You can draw a bloodline of protection around your property and you business using the precious Blood of Jesus Christ. Remember, the devil cannot penetrate the bloodline! It still has the power on sinless man - the Second Adam!

To enjoy all the benefits that the Blood of Jesus has secured we must pay attention to the following facts:

(1) THERE CAN BE NO VICTORY WITHOUT CONFLICT.

We must recognise that we dwell in an enemy's territory. Satan was cast down into the earth, and he is angry because his time is running out. He is unable to reach the glorified Christ, but seeks to reach Him by attacking His people. We must be conscious of the fact that we are being watched. Yes, if you are a child of God you are being watched, every moment, by a cunning enemy who is relentless in his endeavour to bring us entirely, or even partially, under his authority. He is literally "the prince of this world."  All that is in the world is ready to serve him, and he knows how to make use of it in his attempts to lead people astray. He knows how to gain entrance into our daily activities; into our businesses; into our politics; into the arts, literature and science. And he does this in order to turn all that is lawful (in itself) into a tool to forward his evil plans and intentions.

Therefore, any believer who desires to share in the victory over satan "through the blood of the Lamb" must be a fighter. He must clearly understand the character of his enemy. He must allow himself to be taught by the Spirit through the Word what are the secret ploys of the devil, by which he so often deceives men. He must know that this battle is not against flesh and blood, but against “principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." He must devote himself, in every way, to outlast the battle. Only then will he be able to join in the song of victory, "They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony."

(2) VICTORY IS THROUGH FAITH.

"This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God." "...Be of good cheer,"said our Lord Jesus, "I have overcome the world." The devil is already defeated - a conquered enemy. Jesus has made an open show (an exhibition) of his defeat. Therefore, he has nothing, absolutely nothing, by right, to say to anyone who belongs to the Lord Jesus. Through unbelief, or by ignorance, or by letting go of the fact that we share in the victory of Jesus, may again give satan an authority over us which otherwise he does not possess. But when we know, by a living faith, that we are one with Him, and that the Lord Himself lives in us, and that He maintains and carries on that victory through us; then satan has no power to steal, kill or destroy. Victory "through the blood of the Lamb" is the power of life over death.

Only this faith can inspire courage and joy in the battle. By thinking of the evil power of the enemy; of his watchfulness; of the way in which he has taken hold of everything on earth through which he corrupts; it may feel like the battle is too severe. This is perfectly true, if we had to meet the enemy in our weaknesses, or try to gain the victory by our own strength. But that is not what we are called to.

JESUS IS THE VICTOR; so we need only to have our souls filled with the heavenly vision of satan being defeated and disarmed by Jesus. Thererein lies our confidence! Filled with faith in the blood by which Jesus Himself conquered, and knowing that Jesus Himself is with us to maintain the victory of His blood; we have the assurance that we "are more than conquerors through him that loved us."

(3) THIS VICTORY OF FAITH IS IN FELLOWSHIP WITH THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB.

Faith is not merely a thought of which we lay hold, a conviction that possesses us - it is a lifestyle. Faith brings the soul into direct contact with God, and the unseen things of heaven, but above all, with the blood of Jesus Himself. It is not possible to believe in victory of satan (by the Blood of the Lamb) without each of us being brought entirely under its power. Genuine belief in the power of the blood awakens in us a desire to experience its power in our everyday lives; and each experience of its power makes belief in victory more natural.

Remember this, our Lord Jesus by His blood has made us, not only priests but kings unto God, that we may draw near to God not only in priestly purity, but that also in kingly power (ruling authority). A kingly spirit must inspire us; a kingly courage must cause us rule over our enemies. The blood of the Lamb must increasingly be a token and seal of complete victory. The Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus, and the casting out of satan, were the results of the shedding of His blood. In you also, the sprinkling of the blood will open the way for the full enjoyment of Resurrection Power, and of being seated with Him in the heavenly places.

Once more, therefore, I encourage you to open your entire being to the incoming of the power of the Blood of Jesus. When you do, your life will become a continual testimony of the Resurrection and Ascension of our Lord, and a continual victory over all the powers of darkness. Your heart also will be united with the song of heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony” (Revelation 12:10-11).
