Why Dedicate My child?

Is it important to dedicate my child?

Does it have Biblical precedence?

Children are precious in the sight of God. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these…”

In the Old Testament, children were brought to the temple for dedication. Hannah, the mother of Samuel, was the first parent recorded giving her child to God. (1 Samuel 1:21-28) Jesus himself was brought to the temple by his parents to be present to the Lord according to the Law of Moses. (Luke 2:22-24)

Dedication of children is more for the parents more than the children, while the child will benefit from being dedicated; it is a time when the parents go before God in front of a witness.

Admit that this child is a gift given to them by God.
Choose to present or dedicate this child back to God – promising to raise the child “…in the training and instruction of the Lord”. (Ephesians 6:4)

Cornerstone the Church also promises to assist parents in giving a Christian heritage and environment to make it easy for that child to trust God when they reach an accountable age.

It is a good decision to choose to dedicate your child.
