Living in Victory

Key Scriptures

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 3 “For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasoning’s and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)…”

Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…”

Luke 6:45 “The upright (honourable, intrinsically good) man out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart produces what is upright (honourable and intrinsically good), and the evil man out of the evil storehouse brings forth that which is depraved (wicked and intrinsically evil); for out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart his mouth speaks.”

Romans 12:1-2 “Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”

All the above Scriptures are taken from the Amplified Bible

God has a winning attitude - Jesus has completely defeated the devil

Colossians 1:13 and 2:15 Jesus has won total victory, for us. As we have the Word producing in our heart, it causes us to walk in the victory He has won for us.
  • Question 1 – Why and how do we allow a defeated enemy to have place in our lives?
  • Question 2 – What is it that we do or don’t do which gets us into trouble?
  • Question 3 – How do we prevent it happening over and over?
The apostle Paul talked about the fact that what he wanted to do he didn’t do and what he didn’t want to do he did do.

We have authority in the earth

I want us to gain a fresh revelation of our authority in the earth. I don’t want us to have just a passing thought I want us to have a revelation of authority.

So what has God the Father put in place for us to use on His behalf as we travel in this earth?

We have to remember God has limited Himself to what we allow or disallow in the earth, according to His will, His word, and His purposes. If we don’t pray in faith and speak in faith nothing will change in the earth or in our lives nor the lives of those we love.

God the Father has given us authority in the earth to affect this earth towards His Word, His will and His desire. No we don’t have the power to change a person’s will; however we do have authority over every work of the evil one. Lets face it Adam was the first human God gave authority too; that desire is still God’s desire. God wants man to be in authority in the earth making sure His will is being fulfilled in the earth.

Matthew 16:19 Jesus said “…I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven. [Isaiah 22:22]”

Matthew 18:18 Jesus said “…Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven.”

God will only go as far as our last words of faith or if you like our faith confession. What you have today is directly related to what you said yesterday out of your own mouth.

How do we actually apply this authority in the earth

1 Thessalonians 5:23 we find out that we are a three part being; we are a spirit, we have a soul and we live in a body.
  • Spirit – the real you which contacts the spirit
  • Soul – the mind, will and emotions
  • Body – the tent or earth suit we walk around in
What we also need to know is that we have a conscience and what the bible calls the heart of man.
  • Conscience – is where we distinguish between what is morally good and bad.
  • Heart – the seat of the thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, affections, purposes and endeavours.
How do all of these parts work together

All of the key scriptures give us the answer to why we either succeed or fail in our faith walk.

First – we take information in through our eyes through our ears information is processed through our spirit and soul and right now is where you begin to determine your destiny. It is important to realise that if you are spiritually minded; you will begin making decisions based on that spiritual nature. It is equally important to realise that if you are carnal in nature; you will begin making decisions based on that carnal nature. There is no middle ground.

Second - the information then flows to our conscience; this is where being carnally minded or spiritual minded determines how the information is processed. If you are spiritually minded the results will be determined by that spiritual nature. The affairs of life will push and sway you and you will make decisions based on faith and not fear. If you are carnally minded the results will be determined by that carnal nature. The affairs of life will push and sway you and you will make decisions based on fear and not faith.

Third – then the heart of man gets involved and the information is processed using the thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, affections, purposes and endeavours. The last stop before what you have is going to come out of your mouth.

FourthLuke 6:45 “…out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” When you begin to speak you will ultimately speak what you actually believe effecting your whole man spirit, soul and body.

Fifth – you begin to act in accordance with what is in your heart. When you have spoken it out you will have actions and reaction in accordance with what you have said and believed.

Remember at any stage you can change your destiny just by changing what you think and what you say.
I want to encourage all of us to examine what we do with our minds in what we meditate on; remember what is in our hearts eventually comes out of our mouths and finds it way to action. I want us to understand how what we think about and ponder on will change us from the inside out. I want us to understand how what we think about and ponder on can affect our destiny and ultimately the destinies of those we come in contact with.

How do we change our circumstances

Change what you are meditating on and replace it with the Word of God

Mathew 12:34-35, Romans 12:1-2 you cannot change anything in your life without changing what you say about it. Because each time you say it, it reinforces those words in your heart. Before long you will believe it in your heart. The key to success is to change what you meditate on.

Your words determine your destiny and your life

James 3:1-6, Romans 10:8 what you believe in your heart will eventually come out of your mouth. Your words will take you in the direction of what you really believe. Planting God’s word in our heart takes us in the direction of God's will for our lives.

The most important thing is to change your inner image

Matthew 12:37 learn to see yourself as God sees you. Your inner man has been recreated in righteousness and true holiness.

Ephesians 4:24 we need to speak words that build God’s view of us into our lives. Words paint pictures (images) when you hear the word dog, you don’t think D O G you picture a dog in your mind. Different words increase the picture, “a big dog”, “with curly hair”, “black in colour” etc: God’s Word also paints a picture in our hearts. It is God’s picture of who you are in Christ. The New Testament contains the words that paint the picture of our redemption. Those words are the seed that can bear the fruit of redemption in our lives. When your inner image lines up with the Word, the Word will come from your heart with full assurance and power.

The Word of God needs time to grow

Plant the seed

Mark 4:14 and 26-32 no farmer expects the seed he has planted to suddenly grow up overnight. He waits patiently for the season of harvest. We should plant, not just as we need, but in preparation for the time of need or harvest. Even so, we need to give the Word time to grow in our lives. Remember the seed has no roots. The seed needs time to spread roots in the inner man. We water the Word with praise and thanksgiving, and protect it, till the harvest comes.

Do not dig up your seed through unbelief or by quitting

Romans 4:19-20 as a seed grows silently under the earth, so the Word works unseen in our hearts. If we allow it to, it will produce.

Meditate on the Word of God

Romans 12:2, Joshua 1:8 the battleground is in the mind. The Word renews our mind to view things God’s way. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 we war in our minds not against people.
