Being Passionate about Souls

Aim: To make you aware of some easy things in life that will enable you to be effective in outreach to the world.

I believe we should start to get passionate about the things God is passionate about. We think it would be nice to see our friends or loved ones saved, (Imagine if they fell over the side of a ship, you would do everything in your power to stop them from dying) going to Hell is the worst kind of death, throw them the lifeline. We should doing what ever we can to help save them. 3yr 70yr Prayed for me.

Key Verse: Mar 16:14 Afterward He appeared to the Eleven as they reclined. And He reproached their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

They had the same lack of faith in the power of God and the promise of His word that we have today, this will hinder us from witnessing.

Mar 16:15 And He said to them, Go into all the world, proclaim the gospel to all the creation. (Five Fold)

Mar 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned.

Mar 16:17 And miraculous signs will follow to those believing these things: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak new tongues;

Mar 16:18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will be well.

If obedience is the key to operating in the power of God and His word is the power to have Him manifest in our lives then we should accept, obey and receive.

John 14:21

Intro: 2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

2Co 5:19  whereas God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and putting the word of reconciliation in us. 2Co 5:20 Then we are ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as God exhorting through us, we beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

We through the work of Christ on the cross have been made ambassadors of Christ, with the job of reconciliation and in us is the word of reconciliation

Some things we need to help us with our thinking:

We need to get a vision of hell. (Mark 9:45 & 47 Lk 16:23) Fire and torment. Rather pluck an eye!!!!!

If you read the word concerning hell and imagine everyone that you encounter that is not saved including family, will go there it will change your heart toward the world and witnessing. (Fool for Christ)

We should never forget where we’ve come from.

Tell my story (Sin conscious righteousness conscious) Anyone can be saved, not about lifestyle before but rather after

We should never forget His promises.

There are many precious promises in God’s word, they are conditional. We should focus on those and His promise of power when we are feeling inadequate or afraid.

We should never forget the end times.

These are fast approaching. The promise of blessing in Heaven as well s on earth

We should never forget what He has given us.

‘Freely you have received, freely give’ (Matt 10:8)

We should never forget that acts of kindness open many doors:

Being kind cost’s us nothing but will set you apart as someone different and special.

Being kind demonstrates the heart of God, not the heart of the world.

People are drawn to those who genuinely care and will open up to as well as listen to you. (Create opportunities)

We must learn how to share:

Take the time to find out what the word say’s (Mention Practical counseling course) then practice

Be patient and listen/don’t get distracted by wrong questions

Find a need and meet it:
  • Faith without works is dead
  • Engage people in conversation.
  • Ask about them. Show interest in their lives
  • Be friendly, always
  • Trust God (His job to convict, not yours)
  • He convicts of unbelief in Jesus not of sin
John 16:8  And when that One comes, He will convict the world concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment.

John 16:9  Concerning sin, because they do not believe on Me;

John 16:10  concerning righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;

We must be passionate about what we believe.

Show compassion, not judgment and condemnation

He who wins souls is wise (Prov 11:30) – 135 people in the first 3 months.

What will hinder us:
  • Ashamed to share
Don’t want others to know
  • Make a stand
  • Might not work
  • Might not be accepted
  • Might not be listened to
All of these will be dispelled if we will do all of the above in faith, simply because we will see the manifest presence and power of God in our lives and the lives of those around us

Questionnaire

Q: Who here like me hates the thought of evangelism?

Ans: Not my main passion (not condemned by the evangelist who says “If your main aim is not to see the lost saved then maybe your not saved”)

Q: Who has been told that Jesus commanded that we “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel”

Q: Who feels the pressure on them to evangelise? Well tonight I am going to take the pastoral approach (not the evangelist approach) and hopefully help to take the pressure off.

The truth is that what makes the church grow is people bringing people.

Not that that should be our main goal in evangelizing

Evangelism Asides
  1. Don’t be a Bible basher
  2. Be approachable
  3. Don’t be judgemental
  4. Be always ready to give an account for the hope that is within you
  5. Do you know the answer if people ask you questions about you faith
  • Born again
  • Saved
  • Righteousness
  • Tongues
  • Healing
“The Biblel say’s” Where?

If the word is truth then the word is real, then if we live by the word we will be real (Be real)

Anyone who meets you should go away feeling better, be uplifted, have answers and hope

Matthew 11:4 – 5 And Jesus replied to them, Go and report to John what you hear and see: Mat 11:5 The blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed (by healing) and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up and the poor have good news (the Gospel) preached to them. [Isa. 35:5, 6; 61:1.]
