How to have Holy Ghost

Smith Wigglesworth said “We are a back number if we have to pray for power, if we have to waft until we feel a sense of His presence. The baptism in the Holy Ghost should empower you for any emergency.” He also said “You may have the Word, but you need an awakened spirit. The Word is not alive until it is moved upon by the Spirit of God.”

Ephesians 5:1-2 tells us to be followers of God as a child follows a parent.
  • This means that a are to a exact as God acts doing exactly what God does.
  • This means we are to show others – the gospel of salvation.
1 John 4:17 tells us that we are to act as Jesus acts in this world.
  • This verse tells us that our love is made perfect and we can have boldness simply if we just do what Jesus did.
  • Notice it did not say that if we just do what others do, it said if we do what Jesus did.
1 Corinthians 11:1 Paul tells us that we are to imitate someone as they imitate Christ.

Mathew 5:6 tells us that if we hunger and thirst after righteousness then we will be filled.
  • What this scripture is really showing us is the importance of hungering and thirsting after all that is our Fathers.
  • It also says that as we do that one thing we will be filled with the very thing we have hungered and thirsted for.
  • We will be filled with the very presence of God in the earth showing forth God's power and Spirit.
Acts 2:1 we see all of the saints of God gathered in the upper room in one accord.
  • One Accord – homothumadon {hom-othoomad-on'} with one mind, with one accord, with one passion.
    • A unique Greek word used to helps us understand the uniqueness of the Christian community. Homothumadon is a compound of two words meaning to “rush along” and “in unison”. The image is almost musical; a number of notes are sounded which, while different, harmonise in pitch and tone. As the instruments of a great concert under the direction of a concertmaster, so the Holy Spirit blends together the lives of members of Christ's church.
  • Those in the upper room had one passion which was to do what the Father said in so doing receive what the Father had for them.
  • They had an expectation of receiving from the Father they knew to wait because that was what they were told to do.
Acts 1:8 Jesus had said that would receive power they had an expectation of receiving that power.

We must get an expectation of receiving from God at all times for our own lives and the lives of our friends and neighbours.
